Sacramento - The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is improving the way it offers services to the residents of Lancaster and surrounding communities by consolidating services at one location. The DMV is opening a new Lancaster field office on February 6, 2017. It is located at 721 West Avenue L6. This modern facility will replace the current Lancaster and Palmdale offices, which will close permanently in the next few weeks.

Office Location Closing Date
Lancaster 1110 W. Avenue I, Ste. 1 January 27, 2017, noon
Palmdale 2260 E. Palmdale Boulevard February 10, 2017, noon

The new field office will provide more efficient services, with a larger lobby, additional work stations and more customer parking. The new facility will have two Driver Safety Hearing officers that preside over driver safety administrative hearings.

Once the new Lancaster field office is ready to open, the current Lancaster staff will be redirected to the new facility. While staff works to get the new facility ready to open to the public, the Palmdale office will remain open to serve customers in the area.

The DMV reminds customers that it offers many online services at, which will save them a trip to a DMV field office. A few of the convenient options include renewing a vehicle registration and driver license, completing a change of address, requesting a driver record, and making an appointment.
