Reading Time: < 1minute

The San Diego County Arts and Culture Commission celebrated its first anniversary Thursday morning with an event held at The Soap Factory in Logan Heights.

Commission Chair Jim Gilliam and several commission members shared the first-year accomplishments of the organization and what they would like to accomplish over the next several years. They were also presented with a proclamation from the Board of Supervisors.

The Commission was created in June 2022 by the Board of Supervisors to promote greater cultural equity access and inclusion; champion the arts as essential to daily life by investing in a vibrant arts community; shape innovative cultural policy; and build public awareness of the value and benefits of the arts and cultural diversity in the County.

You can learn more about the Commission by visiting their website or emailing [email protected]. They meet the third Wednesday of every other month at 1 p.m. The next meeting is June 26.
