Santa Cruz Water Department Promotes Isidro Rivera to Deputy Director/ Engineering Manager

Santa Cruz, California - The City of Santa Cruz proudly announces Isidro Rivera's promotion to Deputy Director/ Engineering Manager for the Santa Cruz Water Department. With over 20 years of expertise, Isidro will lead water supply planning efforts and oversee the department's $850 million capital improvement program, focusing on building a resilient water system in the face of climate change.

"Isidro's promotion is a testament to his outstanding commitment to ensuring the reliability and safety of our water supply," said City Manager Matt Huffaker. "His leadership will be invaluable as we navigate critical infrastructure upgrades and plan for the future."

Since joining the City in 2002, Isidro has demonstrated exemplary leadership and technical proficiency. He has served as the project manager for major water supply initiatives such as the Aquifer Storage and Recovery Feasibility Investigation, Graham Hill Water Treatment Plant Filter Upgrades, and the successful completion of the Newell Creek Dam Inlet/Outlet Replacement project.

"A deep understanding of water engineering coupled with successful project management in our department positions Isidro as the ideal candidate to lead our engineering efforts," said Water Director Heidi Luckenbach. "I am confident in his ability to uphold our department's standards of excellence."

Isidro holds an undergraduate degree in Agricultural Engineering from CalPoly San Luis Obispo and is a registered Professional Civil Engineer. His promotion underscores the City's commitment to talent development and ensuring the continued delivery of high-quality water services to our community.
