The first Vietnam - Cambodia border defence friendship exchange officially begins

(Bqp.vn) - The first Vietnam - Cambodia border defence friendship exchange officially started on May 15 as the Vietnamese defence delegation was welcomed at Trapeang Sre Border Gate to Snoul district, Kratie province (Cambodia) to take part in the first activities in the framework of the exchange.

The Vietnamese defence delegation was led by its Defence Minister General Phan Van Giang. The welcoming ceremony for the Vietnamese delegation at Trapeang Sre Border Gate was solemnly conducted under the chair of Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister General Samdech Pichey Sena Tea Banh.

The first Vietnam - Cambodia border defence friendship exchange will be held in Loc Ninh district, Binh Phuoc province (Vietnam) and Snoul district, Kratie province (Cambodia) with many practical activities, contributing to promoting friendship between the two countries such as border landmark saluting ceremony, friendship tree planting, joint patrol of the two sides' border protection forces, inauguration of the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Military Medical Station, visit to and presentation of gifts to students at Vietnamese and Cambodian schools... On this occasion, the two defence ministers will hold talks to discuss world and regional situations, as well as the bilateral defence cooperation over the past time, and map out orientations for the cooperation in the time to come.

The year of 2022 marks the "Vietnam - Cambodia, Cambodia - Vietnam Friendship Year 2022," in celebration of the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries (24/6/1967 - 24/6/2022). The Vietnamese Defence Ministry has made up plans with 30 activities, including the first Vietnam - Cambodia border defence friendship exchange.
