GVEA - Golden Valley Electric Association Inc.

10/23/2020 | Press release | Distributed by Public on 10/23/2020 19:17

Effective November 16, GVEA will resume normal fees and disconnection procedures for members in past due/delinquent status.

This pandemic has hit all of us, and some of you may have been unable to pay for your electric service. Starting in March, GVEA voluntarily suspended disconnections of electric service for residential members and the assessment of late fees for nonpayment of bills.

GVEA has held off as long as possible before resuming disconnections due to nonpayment.

Effective November 16, GVEA will resume normal fees and disconnection procedures for members in past due/delinquent status.

There are resources available to you to prevent disconnection. We urge members who are unable to make payments on their account due to COVID-19 to visit www.gvea.com/resources/covid-19.

Under Alaska law, members are still responsible for making payments on their electric account, if able, during the pandemic. If you are behind on your bills and have not completed the hardship statement and entered into a deferred payment agreement, your electric service will be affected.

Disconnection is the last thing GVEA wants to happen. Go online or give us a call.

Let's all work together to keep the lights on.

To avoid being disconnected:
Visit www.gvea.com/resources/covid-19 and:

  1. Sign a sworn hardship statement saying you are unable to pay your electric bill due to financial hardship attributed to COVID-19;

AND

  1. Enter into a deferred payment plan with GVEA.

Or contact GVEA's Member Services Department, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., by calling (907) 452-1151.
