Meeks, Bera Return from CODEL to Islamabad, Pakistan

Washington, DC-House Committee on Foreign Affairs Chairman Gregory Meeks (D-NY) and House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Asia and the Pacific Chair Rep. Ami Bera (D-CA) departed Islamabad, Pakistan after traveling to the country on an official congressional delegation.

While in Pakistan, the delegation met with a cross section of Pakistani officials, members of civil society and religious minorities - including members of the Ahmadiyya community - and an array of government officials, including Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, and Speaker of the National Assembly Assad Kaiser. While in Pakistan, the delegation conveyed appreciation for Pakistan's efforts in support of the evacuation of American citizens and lawful permanent residents from Afghanistan, and exchanged views on a wide range of issues including counter terrorism, the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan, climate change and trade.
