On November 16, 2022, President Xi Jinping exchanged congratulatory messages with Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg on the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

President Xi pointed out that over the past 50 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, China and Luxembourg have always respected and trusted each other, setting a good example of friendly coexistence and mutually beneficial cooperation between countries of all different sizes. Bilateral exchanges and cooperation in various fields have yielded fruitful results. The Silk Road in the air between Zhengzhou and Luxembourg has built an air bridge of connectivity between China and Europe. Since the outbreak of COVID-19, China and Luxembourg have joined hands to fight the pandemic, injecting new connation into the friendship between the two countries. President Xi said he himself attaches great importance to the development of China-Luxembourg relations, and he is ready to work with Grand Duke Henri to take the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries as an opportunity to promote the sustained and sound development of China-Luxembourg relations to the benefit of the two countries and the two peoples.

Henri said that since the establishment of diplomatic relations half a century ago, Luxembourg and China have made remarkable achievements in political, economic cultural and other cooperation and kept deepening the friendship between the two peoples. Luxembourg is ready to work with China to promote exchanges and strengthen cooperation, and jointly safeguard world peace and stability.

On the same day, Premier Li Keqiang of the State Council exchanged congratulatory messages with Luxembourg's Prime Minister Xavier Bettel. Li Keqiang said that China is ready to work with Luxembourg to take the opportunity of celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations to steadily advance bilateral pragmatic cooperation in various fields and constantly boost bilateral relations to new levels. Bettel said that Luxembourg attaches great importance to the development of Luxembourg-China relations, and is willing to work with China to continuously explore new areas of bilateral cooperation and push forward the sustained development of bilateral relations.
