The delegation of the Black Sea Fleet Command arrived in Algeria to summarize the results of the Russian-Algerian naval exercise

A delegation of the Black Sea Fleet Command headed by the Deputy Commander of the Black Sea Fleet, Vice Admiral Arkady Romanov, arrived in the Algerian People's Democratic Republic to summarize the results of the Russian-Algerian exercise Joint Naval Maneuvers - 2021.

The final briefing on the results of the exercise and the meeting of the Russian delegation with Algerian colleagues will take place at the command of the Algerian Navy.

The coastal and maritime phases of the Russian-Algerian naval exercise took place from November 12 to 16 at the Algiers Naval Base and in the southwestern part of the Mediterranean Sea.

The purpose of the exercise was to work out joint actions of the Russian Navy and the Algerian Navy, as well as to strengthen security in the region, the main tasks were the development of bilateral military cooperation, the exchange of experience between fleets in the performance of specific tasks, planning and coordination of joint naval training activities.

Russian and Algerian sailors have worked out cooperation to curb illegal activities at sea: piracy, illegal cargo transportation, terrorist activities and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.

For the period of the naval phase of the exercise, a single headquarters of the international naval unit was formed. In accordance with the protocol agreed by the parties, the commander of the joint unit is the representative of the Algerian Navy, the commander of the Central Area of the Algerian Navy, Rear Admiral Kaid Nordin, the chief of staff of the unit is the commander of the Novorossiysk Naval Base of the Black Sea Fleet, Rear Admiral Viktor Kochemazov.

From the Black Sea Fleet, the crews of the frigate Admiral Grigorovich, the patrol ship Dmitry Rogachev and the rescue tugboat SB-742 took part in the exercise. From the Algerian Navy - the frigate Harrad with a helicopter on board, the training ship La Summam, the rescue vessel El Munjid, a patrol plane and a search and rescue helicopter.
