Public Input Meeting | July 12

The City of McKinney is working to enrich and enhance the Historic Downtown McKinney Cultural District and the surrounding community with public green spaces and parks near downtown McKinney and State Highway 5 (S.H. 5).

Help shape this unique vision by offering input on three options that make it easier and safer for pedestrians to cross S.H. 5 at Virginia and Louisiana street intersections.

Options under consideration include:

  1. Deck Park - S.H. 5 will be lowered below ground to allow a deck park corridor constructed above S.H. 5. between Virginia and Lousiana streets.
  2. Inverted Deck Park - A park corridor would be constructed under S.H. 5. between Virginia and Lousiana streets.
  3. Improvements to the Existing Crossing - Minimal enhancements to the existing S.H. 5 crossings at Virginia and Lousiana streets with wider sidewalks, but no parks would be created.

Attendees will be able to view renderings of each available option and speak with both city staff and consultants.
