“Best Brew” Crowned at Casa Pacifica’s 9th Annual Best in Fest Brewery Competition

"Best Brew" Crowned at Casa Pacifica's 9th Annual Best in Fest Brewery Competition

Ventura, CA- Sunday, April 24th at Barrelhouse 101, judges for Casa Pacifica's 9th Annual Best in Fest Brewery Competition chose their winner. Institution Ale Co. took home the top prize for their RX Pils. Topa Topa Brewing Company's Chief Peak IPA and Enegren Brewing Company's Edel Pils earned honorable mentions.

Judge's blind-tasted thirteen brews based on style, aroma, appearance, flavor, mouthfeel, and overall impression. The esteemed panel of judges included: Cyrena Nouzille, Brewers Association Board Member; Thomas Welsh, Barrelhouse 101 Bar Manager; Katelyn Caillouet, certified beer judge; Jennifer Peck Wheir, CEO & Founder of Beacon Coffee; and Elizabeth Perry, Regional Sales Director for Anna's Cider.

The breweries vying for the title were: Enegren Brewing Company, Institution Ale Company, Pedals and Pints, Poseidon Brewery Company, Tarantula Hill Brewing Company, Transmission Brewery, Ladyface Brewery, MadeWest Brewing Company, Malibu Brewing Company, Topa Topa Brewing Company, Captain Fatty's Brewery, 14 Cannons, and Belching Beaver Brewery.

All thirteen brews from the Competition will be available for tasting at the 29th Annual Casa Pacifica Angels Wine, Food & Brew Festival on Sunday, June 5th at CSU Channel Islands. The Festival's main stage is also where Institution Ale will be officially crowned Best in Fest winner.
