MFA promotes Thai content industry in the 14th edition of the Beijing International Film Festival

On 18 - 22 April 2024, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by the Department of Information, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Thailand Film Office (TFO), Ministry of Tourism and Sports, led Thai entrepreneurs to attend the 14th edition of Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF), as well as organized sideline events in Beijing, China.

The activities included (1) business networking on "Creativity Unleashed: Strengthening Thailand and China's Partnership in Film and Content Industry," at the Royal Thai Embassy, Beijing to strengthen the relations between Thai and Chinese entrepreneurs in the film industry, (2) visit to iQIYI headquarters, in which Thai public and private sectors had a fruitful discussion with iQIYI executives, especially Mr. YANG Xianghua, President of the Movie and Overseas Business Group and (3) the Thai Pavillion in Beijing Film Market during 19-22 April 2024 to promote Thai content industry and filming opportunities in Thailand, which amounted a total investment value of more than 2,468.44 million Baht.

Furthermore, the Thai film "Rivulet of Universe (มันดาลา)" was selected to be screened at the festival by the BJIFF jury.

This project is a part of cultural diplomacy aiming to strengthen Thailand's global popularity, especially in the content industry, provide opportunities for Thai private sectors abroad, and strengthen the long-lasting Thailand-China relations at the people-to-people level.
