Temporary Closures of Luther Burbank Home & Gardens for Maintenance

Luther Burbank Home and Gardens is a City park and a registered National, State and local historic landmark, that celebrates the life and achievements of famed horticulturalist Luther Burbank. This half acre City park is located at the intersection of Sana Rosa Avenue and Sonoma Avenue and consists of a main house, carriage house, green house, and gardens.

On May 6, construction will begin to replace the roof at the main house and the carriage house, along with select repairs and modifications to gutters and downspouts where necessary. This park may be temporarily closed as needed for the City's contractor to carry out the work on the property.

On the main house, a section of existing roofing connecting the porch roof will be replaced, in order to restore the break between the main house, as evident during the historical period. All work carried out on the structures will proceed according to recommendations of the City's Historic Architectural consultants, Treanor and Associates.

The reroofing of both structures is anticipated to require seven weeks to complete. During that time the Luther Burbank Home and Gardens will remain to the public with temporary closures as needed. Thank you for your patience as we work to maintain one of our City's historic treasures.
