WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Jim Risch (R-Idaho), ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, today met with Montenegrin President Jakov Milatovi? in the U.S. Capitol.
"It was a pleasure to welcome President Milatovi? to the U.S. Capitol today. As a fellow member of NATO, Montenegro shares an important role in bolstering our collective defense as Russia and China pose serious threats to transatlantic security.
"Montenegro also plays a significant role in the future of the Western Balkans, and I was glad to talk with President Milatovi? about how our nations can work together to advance our mutual interests in the region. I hope Montenegro will continue efforts to integrate with the transatlantic community and contribute to our joint regional efforts, including through efforts to reach its 2% GDP spending commitment on defense in the coming months."
