Clifford Chance advises on refinancing for public infrastructure projects in Barranquilla, Colombia

Leading international law firm Clifford Chance has advised Distrito Especial, Industrial y Portuario de Barranquilla (the Distrito de Barranquilla) as borrower in a US$100,000,000 senior unsecured financing provided by Deutsche Bank, AG.

The proceeds of the loan were used by the Distrito de Barranquilla to refinance certain existing indebtedness that was incurred to finance public infrastructure projects included in the 2020-2023 development plan "Soy Barranquilla". Soy Barranquilla aims to focus on social investment, particularly in the city's health, education, security, housing and public service sectors.

The Clifford Chance team comprised counsel Alberto Haito and associate Joyce Moore.

The firm has a track record of advising on infrastructure financing transactions in Colombia, including on the Distrito de Barranquilla's original financing for these public infrastructure projects. Clifford Chance most recently advised FDN on a financing for green infrastructure projects in Colombia as well as in connection with an e-bus financing in Bogotá.
