Romania to compete in 2022 Billie Jean King Cup Qualifiers

The ITF has announced that Romania will compete in the 2022 Billie Jean King Cup by BNP Paribas Qualifiers, taking the place vacated by Canada, who will compete in this year's Finals.

As the highest-ranked winning nation at the Billie Jean King Cup Play-offs in 2021, the Canadian team were awarded the place at the Finals previously given to former host nation Hungary.

As a result, the ITF Board has confirmed Romania's place in the 2022 Qualifiers, replacing Canada. Romania will compete alongside the remaining seven winning nations from the 2021 Billie Jean King Cup Play-offs and the nations finishing 3rd-12th at the 2021 Finals. Romania, who fell to Italy 3-1 in the Play-offs in April, are the highest-ranked losing nation from this year's Play-offs.

The Billie Jean King Cup Qualifiers will take place in early 2022, with winning nations progressing to the Billie Jean King Cup Finals.
