Banco de Portugal endorses an initiative by EU central banks and supervisors on the implementation of Basel III

Given the importance for the European and Portuguese banking systems of changes to the prudential framework applicable to credit institutions stemming from the adoption of Basel III reforms in the European Union, the Governor of the Banco de Portugal agrees with the following joint position of different central banks and supervisors in the EU. The Governor stresses the need for a full and timely adoption of said reforms.
