City Opens Registration for Toledo Neighborhood Capacity Building Institute Program

The City's Department of Housing and Community Development is proud to announce that registration is now open for The Toledo Neighborhood Capacity Building Institute (TNCBI) which will run from the beginning August 2024 and ending in June 2025. TNCBI is designed to build support for neighborhood revitalization through engaging select nonprofit organizations to build capacity in strategic areas for effective neighborhood revitalization and sustainability.

Key Program Details:

  • Registration Period: Interested participants can register for TNCBI from April 29 to May 31, 2024, via the official website.
  • What You'll Learn: TNCBI offers a comprehensive curriculum aimed at equipping participants with essential skills and knowledge for effective neighborhood revitalization and sustainability. Key areas of focus include:
    • Mission, vision, bylaw, and policy guidance
    • Marketing, communication, fundraising, and grant writing strategy
    • Building collaborative teams for effective governance and leadership development
    • Understanding the cultural and political history of Toledo and creating community structures
  • Program Structure: The TNCBI program encompasses 12 learning modules covering various aspects of neighborhood development, supplemented by 4-6 micro-learning sessions tailored to address specific organizational and neighborhood challenges identified by the 2024-2025 session.
  • Capstone Project: Participants will have the opportunity to apply their acquired knowledge and skills through a capstone project, showcasing their capacity to effect positive change within their communities.
  • Selection Process: TNCBI will select 15 participants to undertake the program, with applications open from April 29 to May 31, 2024.
  • Institute Sessions: Starting from August 2024, participants will engage in a series of in-person and virtual sessions spanning the duration of the program, facilitating collaborative learning and networking opportunities.
  • Graduation Ceremony: Upon successful completion of the institute, participants will be honored at a formal graduation ceremony, where they will receive recognition from the Mayor and City Council for their dedication to community development.
