Rohr earns back-to-back Ivy Defender of the Year awards

Izzy Rohr, a fourth-year on the women's lacrosse team enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences, has been unanimously selected Ivy League Defender of the Year for the second year in a row.

From Malvern, Pennsylvania, Rohr has so far this season caused 24 turnovers, second on the team behind fourth-year defender Sophie Davis and third overall in the Ivy League. Penn leads the conference in caused turnovers per game (10.67), which is 10th-best in the country. Their 8.33 goals against average is eighth-best in the country.

Rohr is only the second player in Ivy history to be awarded Defender of the Year two times. (The first was Penn's Meg Markham in 2014 and 2015.) Last year, she tied for the League lead in caused turnovers (25) and ranked fourth in ground balls (35).

Rohr is also one of four Quakers to earn First-Team All-Ivy honors. Rohr, fourth-year attacker Niki Miles, and third-year midfielder Anna Brandt were all unanimous selections, and are joined by fourth-year midfielder Aly Feeley. Davis was awarded Second-Team All-Ivy recognition.

Penn, the 10th-ranked team in the country, is 12-3 overall and 5-2 in the conference headed into this weekend's Ivy League Tournament at Yale. The Quakers will be the No. 3 seed and take on No. 2 seed Princeton (10-5 overall, 6-1 in conference) in the semifinals on Friday at 4 p.m. Princeton won the regular-season matchup 14-9 on April 3.

The winner will battle the victor of the Yale vs. Harvard contest in the title game on Sunday at noon. The ultimate Ivy champ will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Division I Women's Lacrosse Championship tournament.

Penn is the defending Ivy League champion.
