Coast Guard Sector North Carolina to prepare CSPI students to lead
WILMINGTON, N.C. - Coast Guard Sector North Carolina in Wilmington is scheduled to host 30 college students enrolled in the Coast Guard's College Student Pre-Commissioning Initiative (CSPI) from Monday, June 19 to Friday, June 23.
During their visit, the CSPI students will have the opportunity to talk with subject matter experts about the various missions Sector North Carolina performs and what it takes to be a successful leader in the Coast Guard.
In addition, Coast Guard Station Wrightsville Beach will provide each student with an area familiarization cruise and an introduction to the station's service to the local community.
CSPI is a program designed for motivated individuals who demonstrate a high caliber of academic and leadership excellence and who desire to serve their country in the Coast Guard. Students who are accepted into this scholarship program will be enlisted into the Coast Guard, complete basic training during the summer and receive full funding for up to two years of college.
'The Coast Guard's success relies on the strength of our diverse workforce, and Sector North Carolina is dedicated to supporting our service's recruiting efforts,' said Cmdr. Quincy Davis, executive officer, Sector North Carolina. 'CSPI provides us with an excellent opportunity to engage with talented and motivated individuals from a multitude of backgrounds, and they are provided an opportunity to have a career in the Coast Guard. It's a win, win for everyone.'
