On the Parks Agenda: Revved Up for the New Year!

What is going on in the "Show Me City" for all to enjoy? Our Parks & Recreation team have several programs and events to help you get out of the house. Plan ahead and register now for all activities and events you would like to be a part of.

The annual Dad & Daughter Dance is on Saturday, Jan. 29, remember to purchase your tickets soon. This will be such a magical evening with dancing, a petting zoo, sweet treats and confetti. Also, spring is around the corner, so plan now to enroll your kids in the MCTX Spring Break Camp.

Jiu Jitsu Classes

• What: Learn self-defense and Jiu-Jitsu
• When: Monthly classes starting January
• Time: 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m./Tuesday and Thursday at Community Center | 10:15 a.m. - 11:15 a.m. Saturday at Grappling Zone in Pearland
• Locations: Community Center, 1522 Texas Pkwy. | Grappling Zone in Pearland, 2849 Miller Ranch Rd. #505
• Cost: $65 per person Tuesday and Thursday; $95 per person Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday

Senior Bingo

• What: It's Bingo time! Breakfast will be available along with chances to win great prizes!
• When: Every third Thursday: Jan. 20, Feb. 17, Mar. 17 and Apr. 21
• Time: 9 a.m. - 11 a.m.
• Location: Recreation & Tennis Center, 2701 Cypress Point Dr.
• Cost: $5 per person, cash or card/Pay at the door/Maximum of 75 participants

Teen 3PT Shootout

• What: MCTX will host a 3 point shoot-out for ages 14 - 19 years old. Show off your skills.
• When: Friday, Jan. 21, Feb. 18 and Mar. 18
• Time: Begins at 6 p.m.
• Location: Recreation & Tennis Center, 2701 Cypress Point Dr.
• Cost: $5 Entry Fee/Please register/Maximum of 16 participants each contest

Fit Expo

• What: Come out and enjoy the fitness challenges, guest speakers, group fitness, cooking demonstrations and more!
• When: Saturday, Jan. 22
• Time: 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
• Location: Recreation & Tennis Center, 2701 Cypress Point Dr.
• Cost: FREE

Senior Foodies

• What: The Senior Foodies are headed to Saladworks for an opportunity to meet new friends and enjoy a delicious meal.
• When: Friday, Jan. 28
• Time: 11:30 a.m.
• Location: 18802 University Blvd., Sugar Land
• Cost: Separate checks will be issued for each participant. RSVP is required for table reservations.

Dad & Daughter Dance

• What: Calling all princesses and their fathers to join us at the Royal Ball. Be sure to purchase your ticket as soon as possible.
• When: Saturday, Jan. 29
• Time: 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
• Location: Community Center, 1522 Texas Pkwy.
• Cost: $20 Father/Daughter - $10 additional daughter

Adult Archery Workshops

• What: Learn the basics of archery or improve your current skills during our lunch hour workshops for adults only. All equipment will be provided and personal equipment must be inspected before using.
• When: Second Wednesdays, February through April
• Time: Begins at 12:30 p.m.
• Location: Community Center, 1522 Texas Pkwy.
• Cost: $5 for members/$10 for non-members; Pricing is per session/Registration required/Space is limited

Senior Trip

• What: Seniors 50+ can take a road trip with us to the Texas City Museum & Train Depot. We will stop to have lunch at The Reef Seafood House.
• When: Thursday, Feb. 10
• Time: 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
• Location: Meet at the Recreation & Tennis Center, 2701 Cypress Point Dr. and check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. The bus will depart at 9 a.m.
• Cost: $25 per person - Lunch is not included/Call to reserve your seat on the bus

Kids Night Out

• What: Pre-register for Kids Night Out! There will be arts and crafts, games, a movie and pizza
• When: Friday, Feb. 11
• Time: 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.
• Location: Community Center, 1522 Texas Pkwy.
• Cost: $15 per child - Space limited

Coed Soccer

• What: Looking forward to spring time, MCTX will be forming a coed soccer league. If you are interested, please call Joshua Rodrigue at 281.403.8651.
• When: March 3 - April 14
• Time: Thursday evenings
• Location: Hunters Glen Park, 1340 Independence Blvd.
• Cost: $450 per team

Spring Break Camp

• What: Spring break will be here soon! Have the kids to join us for outdoor fun, cool crafts, field trip and more.
• When: March 14 - 18
• Time: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• Location: Community Center, 1522 Texas Pkwy.
• Cost: $150 for the week/Pre-registration is required.
