Community Input Sought for Bayside Area Development Plan

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - A modern plan for the Bayside area of Corpus Christi is in the works. The City of Corpus Christi's Planning Department is asking for community input to help create a new long-range plan for the Bayside area. Morgan Avenue bounds the 16.6 square mile study area on the north, South Padre Island Drive (SH 358) on the south, Ocean Drive/Oso Bay on the east, and the Crosstown Expressway (SH 286) on the west.

The Bayside Area Development Plan study area includes well-known locations such as Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, Del Mar College - Heritage Campus, Oso Beach Municipal Golf Course, Sunrise and La Palmera Malls, Six Points, and the Port-Ayers commercial corridor.

The City's current Bayside area development plan (formerly known as the Southeast Area Development Plan) was adopted in 1995 and no longer reflects the Bayside area's existing conditions or future needs. The planning process will examine current conditions, use public input to establish the community's vision and goals, and identify implementation strategies, including public investment, policy, and programmatic initiatives.

The City of Corpus Christi encourages anyone interested in the Bayside area to review the project webpage and take a survey at www.creatingcc.com/bayside. The survey aims to understand the community's priorities and needs. Participants can also complete a mapping exercise where they can identify places they like in the Bayside area or places where they have concerns or suggestions. Input collected during this first phase of public engagement will help identify action steps to achieve community goals.
