Lehigh Valley Cancer Institute Expanding to New LVH–Hecktown Oaks Campus

For residents of Northampton County, Lehigh Valley Cancer Institute will soon be nearby at a new cancer center that's set to open on the campus ofLehigh Valley Hospital (LVH)-Hecktown Oaks. This new hospital, part of Lehigh Valley Health Network, will open on July 1.

Full range ofbreast health services. As a breast cancer center of excellence, Lehigh Valley Cancer Institute-Hecktown Oaks will feature the latest lifesaving breast screening, diagnostic and treatment technologies, such as:

  • 3D mammographythat allows specialists to examine breast tissue layer by layer for a higher degree of accuracy in locating abnormalities.
  • Automated breast ultrasound (ABUS)to improve cancer detection for women with dense breast tissue.
  • Cerianna- a new drug that detects estrogen receptor (ER)-positive lesions on PET scan images without the need for invasive biopsies.

Radiation oncology.Through Lehigh Valley Cancer Institute's nationally recognized radiation therapy program, patients will have access to the most innovative technologies and techniques, including linear accelerator (LINAC)-based radiotherapy that targets deep-seated tumors with minimal effect on adjacent healthy tissue, and offers shorter courses of treatment.

Chemotherapy and other outpatient infusion therapies. Multidisciplinary Cancer Clinics (MDC).MDCs allow patients to meet with their care team -
