Del-One FCU Announces Passing of Beloved Board Member

Del-One FCU has lost a beloved Board Treasurer Emeritus, credit union advocate, friend, and mentor to so many. R. Bryce "Breezy" Brown passed away on April 27, 2024.

Breezy began serving on Del-One's Board of Directors in 1984, and was named Treasurer in 1995, a role he held until his retirement from the Board in 2019. Breezy also served on Del-One's Facilities Committee and won the distinguished Volunteer of the Year Award from the Delaware Credit Union League in 2010.

From Breezy's dedication to his family, his career as the Chief Administrative Auditor for the State of Delaware, owner and operator of B & B Accounting and Brownie's Liquor Store, his service in the National Guard, and his volunteer services, Breezy was the epitome of a true leader and role model for all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

In 2019, Breezy was awarded the inaugural service award named in his honor, the R. Bryce Breezy Brown Service Award. This award is now presented annually to an individual whose loyalty and dedication truly makes a difference for Del-One Federal Credit Union and the Credit Union Movement. Breezy was the role model after which the spirit of this award is given each year.

In another nod to Breezy and his dedication and loyalty to the credit union, Del-One named our virtual assistant/ AI Chat/Phone Bot "Breezy". When members call in or visit the chat option on the website, they will interact with "Breezy". Breezy Brown would often make his family members call in to Del-One so they could hear "Breezy".

Del-One's President and CEO Dan McCarthy stated: "Breezy took his responsibility as a Board member incredibly serious, but he also brought laughter, perspective, and most importantly, a focus on being easy to work with for members." Breezy truly had a servant's heart, and aways had others' best interest in mind when making decisions. Breezy's presence will always be felt and his passion for service to the community will always be remembered
