Suspect in serious injury hit and run indicted by Grand Jury

On Monday, July 18, at around 8:00pm, Gresham Police responded to a report of a hit-and-run crash that left a pedestrian with serious injuries. Responding officers located the victim, 62-year-old Rennette Harris of Portland, lying in the street, and she was taken to a trauma hospital for treatment.

Detectives and crime scene investigators were called to the scene and after interviewing witnesses and viewing area surveillance video, they identified a suspect vehicle which was located unoccupied a short distance away that night. Investigators were able to develop suspect information based on interviews and evidence and on August 1, the East Metro SWAT team served a search warrant a short distance away from where the incident occurred and arrested 57-year-old Kelvin Millage, of Gresham.

A Multnomah County Grand Jury indicted Mr. Millage on August 5 on charges of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, Assault in the First Degree, and felony Hit-and-Run. The victim, Mrs. Harris, remains hospitalized with serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.
