Kallas at a meeting with President Anastasiades: we want to develop digital co-operation between Estonia and Cyprus

According to Prime Minister Kallas, Estonia is happy to share its experience with Cyprus in developing the digital society, e-services, as well as cyber security. "Well-functioning digital infrastructure and e-solutions contribute to the smooth functioning of society. We are prepared to support the digital ambition of Cyprus in any way we can," said Kallas.

During their bilateral meeting, Prime Minister Kallas and President Anastasiades focused on the Russian war in Ukraine and the possibilities of assisting Ukraine.

According to Kallas, we need a new long-term approach to the policy towards Russia. "The sanctions imposed cannot be relaxed any time soon. On the contrary, we need new sanctions that focus on Russian energy carriers," said Kallas. "In addition, Russia must be completely politically isolated, and we must do everything we can to become independent of Russian energy and economy quickly," she said. According to Kallas, it is also important to continue to provide full support to Ukraine, including assistance to Ukrainian war refugees.

They also discussed co-operation in the field of the green transition. Estonia and Cyprus are of the opinion that the views of maritime countries must be taken into account to achieve the maritime climate goals of the European Union.
