Zenitel offers a number of technical product training sessions in September, all live streamed by our training team in Trondheim. They are free and exclusively available to our Safety & Security partners. Get to know Kristoffer Høgberg, Training Content Specialist, Safety & Security Marketing, and a valuable member of our training team.

What is your background?
Without telling my entire life story, I've been fortunate enough to have been able to dabble with a little bit of everything. Apart from studying Educational Science at the University of Oslo, I've worked with everything from baking to Management Development and everything in between -- artillery, a firefighter and an instructor in the Norwegian Navy; management, compliance and quality assurance; data analytics -- even pushing shopping carts in my youth. Even though some jobs were more exciting than others, I wouldn't be without any of the experiences I acquired and people I met along the way.

How did you get into your current role?
After my experience as an instructor in the Navy, I've always ended up in educational roles, and the feedback I've gotten indicates that it is something I'm really good at. Combine that with an (at times) unhealthy passion for the digital aspect of learning, and always staying curious, I picked up the necessary skills to succeed in this type of role. When Zenitel was looking for my skillset, the choice was easy.

What do you enjoy about your role?
It might sound like a cliché, but I love the challenges I've faced in this role. Starting with a blank canvas and evolving that canvas into something tangible is truly rewarding and fun. It surely doesn't hurt that I'm surrounded by passionate, professional coworkers who share their knowledge in the process.

How have you seen our partners embracing our product training? And why is this important?
Since we love data driven decision making, it was important for us to connect our new training initiatives with feedback from the start, so we can now answer that question with confidence and without assumptions. The response we have gotten has been tremendous! Both our e-learning modules and our virtual classrooms are receiving top marks from our network, some describing it as the best in the security industry. Our partners are also appreciating the fact that they don't have to travel to learn from our experts, which is reflected by the number of people we are able to train with the digital transformation. On the other hand, the disadvantage of digital arena is that it is harder to facilitate for those who learn best by the hands-on approach, but it is in no way impossible. We have launched courses with software-simulation twists that have had a great reception, and we have only scratched the surface of what we are going to offer in the future. With the increased reach we've gotten with the digital transformation, it's a win-win. Ensuring that our network and staff are equipped with the necessary tools knowledge wise, ensures the best experience and best system for our end-customer, for our partner and for us.

Do you have any career advice to offer?
Dare to change and dare to look bad. Vanity is one of the biggest obstacles for developing yourself and your company. It's human nature to try to avoid those moments of discomfort, but comfort is rarely one of the secrets behind good results. It's in these uncomfortable moments I've learned and developed the most. Oh, and make sure to be kind and have fun along the way.

What do you like to do in your free time?
I wish I could say that it still was running and snowboarding, but the phenomenon of aging caught up with me, as well. Bad knees shifted the focus towards more age-appropriate activities, like traveling with my better half, experiencing new food, good wine, and local history, and looking for the golf balls that landed nowhere near the fairway.
