Frøy enters into shipbuilding contract for 4.500 m3 wellboat
Frøy ASA («Frøy») is pleased to announce that it has entered into a shipbuilding contract with Sefine Shipyard for construction of a 4.500 m3 wellboat. Frøy has correspondingly entered into an agreement on a new 5-year term loan facility with a Norwegian bank securing approx. 80% loan to value on the vessel.
The vessel will be a sister vessel of the newbuild Gåsø Odin that is scheduled for delivery later this year. The vessel is designed for optimal fish welfare, meeting both the current and expected future requirements for fish welfare in terms of circulation, oxygenation, filtration and UV. The vessel will also have underpressure grading with extraction of all types of cleaning fish, and clean and smooth well surfaces that optimize the hygiene results of the automatic washing system.
The vessel will be equipped with a diesel electric propulsion system and battery package to reduce fuel consumption and the carbon footprint.
Head of Wellboat, Oddleif Wigdahl, comments: "We are very pleased to expand our fleet with a high capacity wellboat with the latest technology for gentle transport of fish and the best possible biosafety for the surrounding environment. The price of the newbuild was negotiated earlier this year and is regarded to be attractive vs. the current newbuild prices in the market. The vessel will be among the most efficient vessels in the market and is expected to be ready to operate from late Q2 2024"
