AHN Grove City Welcomes Northern Regional OB/GYN Physician Group to Provide Local Women's Health Care Services

Allegheny Health Network's (AHN) Grove City Hospital now offers specialized women's health care, provided by AHN's Northern Regional OB/GYN physician group. Comprising the practice are Nicole Carlson, MD, Sara Miller, MD, John Mellinger, MD, Jacqueline Yancey, DO, Jessica Hoyson, MD, Millicent McCarren, MD and Heather Mills, CRNP.

Dr. Carlson, a Lawrence County native and lead generalist for Northern Regional OB/GYN in Grove City said she is excited about what this means for area women. "The reestablishment of women's health here at AHN Grove City will enable more women to receive the comprehensive, high quality care they need close to home," she said.

The physician group will provide routine gynecological care at AHN Grove City, including many common gynecologic surgical procedures. Area women will also have access via the group to additional advanced gynecologic services that are now available at AHN's new Wexford Hospital.

"The most common procedures women undergo, like D&C, tubal ligation, hysteroscopies and laparoscopic pain evaluations will all take place at AHN Grove City," Dr. Carlson said. "But the real beauty of this program lies in its connection to the broader resources of AHN's Women's Institute, including those available at AHN Wexford." Patients will also have access to a wide range of gynecologic subspecialists at AHN Wexford, including Dr. Noah Rindos, who performs minimally invasive, same-day hysterectomies and manages Northern Regional's complex surgical cases.

For women who are, or plan to become pregnant, Northern Regional OBGYN will provide pre- and post-natal care at AHN Grove City, while enabling them to deliver their baby in the brand new, state-of-the-art labor and delivery center at AHN Wexford. The hospital has a Level II neonatal intensive care unit and high-risk obstetrics services. It offers women and their families a host of amenities designed to make their birthing experience an exceptional one, including comfortable, spacious all-private patient rooms, personalized room service, and access to both an adjacent outdoor terrace garden and an Austin's Playroom for young siblings.

The group sees patients 13 and older, and cares for women in all life phases: childbearing and pre- and post-menopausal. Women experiencing pelvic floor disorders can also receive specialized therapy at AHN Grove City provided by Brodie Whitley, DPT, CLT.

"AHN is investing in an entirely new era of women's health care for the people of this community, with services and levels of care that have never been available here before now," said Dr. Carlson. "Our group is excited to be part of this new era and looks forward to the benefits of these expanded capabilities in the region for our patients."

Women's health at Grove City Hospital is the most recent example of AHN's commitment to bringing more health care services into the communities where they are needed most. Along with Grove City, Northern Regional OB/GYN has practices in Gibsonia, Cranberry, Wexford, Moon Township and Butler.

"At AHN we continue to deliver on our promise to further expand access to women's health care services across the greater western Pennsylvania region," said Marcia Klein-Patel, MD, Chair of AHN's Women's Institute. "From Pittsburgh to Wexford, to Grove City and Erie, we are creating a network of outstanding, integrated health care programs and resources for women who live in communities along the I-79 north corridor."
