Statement from Maynooth University President, Professor Philip Nolan, on Friday's announcement by Minister Joe McHugh TD and Minister Mary Mitchell O'Connor TD on the Higher Education Strategic Infrastructure Fund.
'Maynooth University welcomes today's announcement by Minister Joe McHugh TD and Minister Mary Mitchell O'Connor TD. As the fastest growing university serving the fastest growing region in Ireland, Maynooth University has accounted for 22% of all enrolment growth in the university sector in the decade since 2008. It is critically important that we now invest in additional laboratories, classrooms and teaching facilities to maintain and enhance the quality of the learning experience for our students, now and into the future. The Higher Education Strategic Infrastructure Fund is an important step in addressing the larger problem of funding a third level system in Ireland which must grow further to meet the needs of an increasing population.'
