The Prime Minister Múte Bourup Egede, together with Naalakkersuisoq Pele Broberg, met the U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Kangerlussuaq. The visit is an important signal that Greenland is a vital partner for the United States. The visit confirms the intention for increased cooperation between the USA and Greenland. An intention that ensure foreign policy stability well into the future.

The visit to Greenland is only the fifth trip for the US Secretary of State since he took office.

'It is an important signal that the US Secretary of State is visiting Greenland so early after the new US administration has taken office. For this reason it has been crucial for me to talk about my Government's priorities and how we can work with the United States to achieve mutual benefits.'
- says the Prime Minister, Múte Bourup Egede.

The need to develop trade with the United States was highlighted as a priority for the Government of Greenland. Considering the limited trade today, there is potential to create greater cooperation. The message was well received by the US Secretary of State. The United States is prepared to work together to strengthen the Greenland-American relationship.

'I am pleased that US Secretary of State Blinken had the opportunity to come to Greenland and see firsthand what we have to offer. With the visit today, I look forward to the boost on our work on a trade agreement with the United States, and for us to realize the Common plan for Cooperation, based on a peaceful development in the Arctic.'
- says the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Business, Trade and Climate, Pele Broberg.

The new US administration also spoke about their increased focus on issues related to the climate. This is good news, as international efforts are needed to combat climate change.

'Now we can get to work and create results for the benefit of Greenland and the USA.'
- concludes Pele Broberg.
