Scheduled training flights were conducted at the Kamenny Ruchey airfield of the Pacific Fleet naval aviation in order to coordinate the young crews of long-range anti-submarine Tu-142 aircraft with the development of anti-submarine tasks over the Sea of Okhotsk.

During the flights, the crews of two Tu-142 aircraft carried out search operations using special standard means of detecting submarines of a mock enemy.

In addition, the crews of the Tu-142, under the guidance of experienced instructors of the aviation unit, improved the skills of passing a given course over undirected terrain and the coherence of the pilots' actions when piloting in the absence of ground-based radio-technical means of air navigation.
