Hatcher Finishes 2022 as National Leader in Hits and Doubles

KENNESAW, Ga. - With the 2022 Men's College World Series coming to a close, ended the season ranked first in the NCAA in both hits (109) and doubles (26). The KSU center fielder was a first-team All-ASUN selection and Collegiate Baseball Third Team All-American.

Hatcher is only the second Owl in the program's Division I history to surpass the 100-hit mark in a single season (Max Pentecost - 113 hits, 2014). The outfielder finished the year with a team-high .391 batting average that included three triples, 15 home runs and a program-record 26 doubles.

In a thrilling victory at No. 12 Georgia Tech (Mar. 23), Hatcher became the first player in KSU history to hit for the cycle. Two games later, he repeated the feat and became only the third player in NCAA history to hit for two cycles in the same season.

At the ASUN Conference Tournament, the center fielder collected the ASUN Tournament Most Valuable Player Award and helped lead the Owls to their first ASUN Tournament Championship and NCAA Regional appearance since 2014.

The center fielder continued to dominate at the NCAA Hattiesburg Regional and was selected to the All-Tournament Team. Hatcher finished 6-for-12 (.500) with two home runs, one double, four RBI and six runs scored.

At the conclusion of the season, Hatcher was selected to the ABCA/Rawlings Southeast All-Region Second Team. He also became the first KSU non-freshman to be named an All-American since Max Pentecost in 2014.
