MUR Notice 'Funding of projects submitted by young researchers' Young Researchers

The University of Tuscia adheres to the call of the Ministry of University and Research, "Financing of projects presented by young researchers" published within the framework of the implementation of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), Mission 4 and in coherence with the Operational Arrangements signed between the European Commission and the Ministry of Economy and Finance on 22 December 2021.

The initiative funds the award of at least 300 research grants to young researchers in one of the following categories by the fourth quarter of 2022:

  • Principal Investigator winners of European Research Council - ERC Starting grant calls within the Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe Framework Programmes who have chosen a foreign Host Institution as their location;

  • winners of Marie Sklodowska-Curie Individual Fellowships within the Horizon 2020 Framework Programme and of Marie Sklodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships within the Horizon Europe Framework Programme;

  • individuals who have been awarded a "Seal of Excellence" following participation in Marie Sklodowska-Curie Individual Fellowships and Marie Sklodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships under the Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe Framework Programmes.

Below are the details of the funding made available.

Funding of young researchers awarded ERC grants

The Ministry of University and Research makes available resources amounting to EUR 100 million - of which EUR 40 million are earmarked as a priority for the regions of Southern Italy - to fund the projects of 100 young researchers who have won European Research Council - ERC Starting Grants under the Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe Framework Programmes.

Principal Investigators who have won European Research Council - ERC Starting grant calls under the Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe Framework Programmes whose Grant is still active on the call deadline date and whose Host Institution is abroad, may apply for the "Funding of projects submitted by young researchers" as per the Notice published by the MUR available at the following link.

The University of Tuscia is making the following associate professor positions available for participation in the above-mentioned call for applications:

N. 1 Associate Professor PE6 - Computer Science and Informatics

N. 1 Associate Professor PE8 - Products and Processes Engineering

N. 1 Associate Professor LS3 - Cellular and Developmental Biology

N. 1 Associate Professor LS8 - Environmental Biology, Ecology and Evolution

N. 1 Associate Professor LS9 - Biotechnology: and Biosystems Engineering

N. 1 Associate Professor SH1 - Individuals, Markets and Organizations

N. 1 Associate Professor SH2 - Institutions, Governance and Legal Systems

N. 1 Associate Professor SH5 - Cultures and Cultural Production

Interested Principal Investigators will have to submit a project proposal in one of the research areas belonging to the scientific-disciplinary macro-sectors of the positions made available by Unitus.

Proposals must be complementary or consequential to the activities included in the First Submission. Project proposals shall have a maximum duration of 36 months from the date of signature of the contract between the Principal Investigator and the Host Institution and in any case no later than 31 May 2026.

The maximum contribution obtainable for each project proposal is 1 million Euros.

Should the project proposal be funded, the University of Tuscia undertakes to directly call the candidate in accordance with Article 1, paragraph 9 of Law no. 230 of 4 November 2005 for the positions made available.

The signing of the contract by the Principal Investigator with the University of Tuscia entails the transfer of the project funded by the European Research Council, through the institution of portability.

Applications for participation must be submitted in English, under penalty of exclusion and inadmissibility, exclusively electronically, through the platform https://www.gea.mur.gov.it, starting from 12:00 noon on 22 September 2022 and peremptorily no later than 12:00 noon on 11 October 2022, according to the terms and conditions provided by the notice published by the MUR available at the following link.

Each Principal Investigator may appear in only one project proposal

Funding of young researchers awarded MSCA grants

The Ministry of University and Research is making available resources of EUR 60 million - of which EUR 24 million are earmarked primarily for the regions of Southern Italy - to fund the research activities of 200 young researchers who have won Marie Sklodowska-Curie Individual Fellowships and Marie Sklodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships under the Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe framework programmes.

Researchers winners of Marie Sklodowska-Curie Individual Fellowships and Marie Sklodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships within the Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe Framework Programmes, who have completed their project no more than 12 months before the call deadline, may apply for the "Funding of projects submitted by young researchers" as per the Notice published by MUR available at the following link. Proposals submitted by applicants may relate to one of the research areas belonging to the scientific-disciplinary macro-sectors covered by MSCA Individual Fellowships and MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships, as listed in Annex 1B of the Notice.

In addition, the project proposal must also provide for the submission of a research proposal in response to the calls of the European Research Council, in which the proposing party is Principal Investigator and which envisages the University of Tuscia as Host Institution. The activities envisaged by the project proposals must be carried out within a maximum period of 36 months from the signing of the deed of obligation attached to the decree granting the funding and in any case by 20 December 2025.

The maximum contribution obtainable for each project proposal is €300,000.

Applicants meeting the requirements set out in the Notice "Funding of projects presented by young researchers" published by the MUR and available at the following link, may apply by sending by 30 September 2022 to the e-mail address [email protected] a project proposal drawn up in accordance with Annex 5B of the Notice in the case of a lump sum contribution or Annex 4B of the Notice if the project budget is broken down by expenditure items. The University of Tuscia, in its capacity as Host Institution, will assess the project proposals submitted in accordance with the provisions of the above-mentioned MUR Notice. At the end of the evaluation, the University will compile for each project proposal received, a Report drawn up in accordance with Annex 7B of the Notice, containing the evaluation, carried out in accordance with the criteria set out in the Notice.

Upon completion of the evaluation, the applicant will enter into a preliminary agreement drawn up in accordance with Annex 6B of the Notice with the University of Tuscia as Host Institution and may subsequently submit the project proposal to the MUR in accordance with the terms and conditions set out in the notice published by the MUR available at the following link

Applications must be submitted in English, under penalty of exclusion and inadmissibility, exclusively electronically, via the https://www.gea.mur.gov.it platform, starting at 12:00 noon on 5 September 2022 and strictly by 12:00 noon on 11 October 2022, in accordance with the terms and conditions set out in the notice published by the MUR available at the following link

Each candidate may only appear in one project proposal

In the event the project proposal is funded, the University of Tuscia undertakes to directly call the candidate in accordance with article 1, paragraph 9, of law no. 230 of 4 November 2005, for the position of researcher on fixed-term contract pursuant to art. 24, paragraph 3, letter a), of law no. 240 of 30 December 2010, within the time limits set out in art. 14, paragraph 6-quinquiesdecies, of decree-law no. 36 of 30 April 2022, as converted, with amendments, with law no. 79 of 29 June 2022, or, once the conditions set forth in paragraph 6 septies of art. 14 of the aforementioned decree-law no. 36 of 30 April 2022, as converted, with amendments, with law no. 79 of 29 June 2022, have been met, of research contract holder.

Funding for young researchers awarded a 'Seal of Excellence

The Ministry of University and Research makes available resources amounting to 60 million euros - of which 24 million euros are earmarked primarily for the regions of Southern Italy - for the funding of projects of 400 young researchers who have been awarded a "Seal of Excellence" in the framework of the participation in Marie Sklodowska-Curie Individual Fellowships and Marie Sklodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships

Researchers who have been notified of the awarding of the "Seal of Excellence" within the 24 months preceding the deadline of the MUR Notice may submit project proposals that may relate to one of the research areas belonging to the scientific-disciplinary macro-sectors covered by the MSCA Individual Fellowships and MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships, as listed in Annex 1C of the Notice.

The above-mentioned project proposals must constitute an adaptation of the proposals ("First submission") which have been awarded the "Seal of Excellence" following participation in the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Individual Fellowships and Marie Sklodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships within the Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe Framework Programmes.

The activities envisaged in the project proposals must be carried out within a maximum time frame of 24 months from the signing of the deed of obligation attached to the decree granting the funding and in any case no later than 20 December 2024.

The grant awarded for each eligible project proposal is EUR 150,000.

Applicants meeting the requirements set out in the Notice "Funding of projects presented by young researchers" published by the MUR and available at the following link, may participate by sending, by 30 September 2022, to the e-mail address [email protected], a project proposal drawn up in accordance with Annex 5C of the Notice.

The University of Tuscia, in its capacity as Host Institution, will proceed to the evaluation of the project proposals submitted in accordance with the provisions of the aforementioned MUR Notice. At the end of the evaluation, the University will compile for each project proposal received, a Report drawn up in accordance with Annex 6C of the Notice, containing the evaluation, carried out in accordance with the criteria set out in the Notice itself.

Upon completion of the evaluation, the applicant will enter into a preliminary agreement with the University of Tuscia as Host Institution drawn up in accordance with Annex 5C and, subsequently, may submit the project proposal to the MUR according to the terms and conditions provided by the notice published by the MUR available at the following link
