eCEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The University of Dubuque volleyball team opened American Rivers Conference play on Wednesday night and would fall to the host, Coe College Kohawks 3-1. The Kohawks captured the frst two sets before UD would rally and hold the hosts to just seven points in the third set. A battle in the fourth set would be edged out by the Kohawks to capture the match.
Set scores were 23-25, 15-25, 25-7, 20-25. UD's Grace Hintze led with 10 kills, Sarah Farraday and Kara Wright each added nine. Rylee Andresen collected eight blocks, Kaylynn Murray had 24 set assists and Grace Strawser ended the night with 22 defensive digs.
The Spartans are off until Sept 24 when they travel to face the Wartburg College Knights in Waverly, Iowa before returning home to host the 2019 River City Classic in Stoltz Sports Center on Sept. 27-28.
