SCHNEIDER STATEMENT FOLLOWING MEETING WITH EGYPTIAN AMBASSADOR ON POTENTIAL HOSTAGE RELEASE AND CEASEFIRE DEAL

Washington- Today, Rep. Brad Schneider (IL-10) convened a bipartisan group of 30 House members for a closed-door meeting with Egyptian Ambassador Motaz Zahran. Schneider released the following statement after the call:

"As negotiations in Cairo over a ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas continue, today I convened several of my House colleagues for a frank and wide-ranging conversation with Egyptian Ambassador Motaz Zahran. Egypt is a crucial mediator and we reiterated how important the Egyptian role is in getting hostages held by Hamas released and bringing the conflict to a pause. I emphasized that more must be done to pressure Hamas to release all hostages, just as we must do more to surge aid to civilians in Gaza. I continue to pray for the return of the hostages, relief for Palestinian civilians and a deal that helps open the door to durable and lasting peace in the region."
