Selective retailing · September 1, 2022 Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche takes center stage to celebrate 170th anniversary

The history of Paris' most famous department store is forever linked to Émile Zola's novel Au Bonheur des Dames (The Ladies' Paradise). From September 2 through December 30, Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche invites theater lovers to enjoy an unforgettable immersive experience inspired by Zola's characters. A must-see show!

To celebrate its 170th anniversary, Le Bon Marché raises the curtain and invites visitors to be part of a compelling adventure that unfolds after closing time at the legendary department store. For two hours, theater-goers follow in the footsteps of Émile Zola during an immersive experience.

Staged against the backdrop of the actual store founded by Aristide and Marguerite Boucicaut in 1852, the play brings to life 30 characters from Zola's novel Au Bonheur des Dames (The Ladies' Paradise) in memorable roles. Following them through the store, the audience is challenged to solve a mystery during a voyage across time and imagination. Thespians and apprentice sleuths come together for a delightfully surprising dénouement.

Based on an original idea by Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche, the play was written by Toni Avenard and directed by Juliette Colin. Performances take place each Friday and Saturday evening from September 2 through December 30.
