CONGRESSMAN GONZALEZ ANNOUNCES OVER $1.5 MILLION FOR MISSION REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER

WASHINGTON - Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) announced that the Mission Regional Medical Center will receive $1,596,900 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for expenses accrued during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Our local healthcare professionals are on the front lines of public health emergencies," stated Congressman Gonzalez. "I am grateful to know Mission Regional Medical Center will be receiving this funding for their hard work so they may continue to provide critical care. We are forever grateful for their sacrifices and dedication to the health and wellbeing of South Texans."

"Healthcare professionals have been working around the clock to provide support and protection to our communities-the doctors and nurses at Mission Regional Medical Center are no different," said Congressman Henry Cuellar (TX-28), a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee. "That is why I worked with Rep. Gonzalez to help secure this federal grant funding. South Texas suffered immensely throughout the pandemic. As an underserved medical center, the Mission Regional Medical Center needs this funding to continue providing care to our most vulnerable family and friends. Thank you to the doctors, nurses, and hospital administrators that serve our community with pride."

"Mission Regional Medical Center is grateful for the FEMA relief, which helped offset some of the outlier expenses related to the overwhelming Covid-19 prevalence in the RGV", stated Kane Dawson, CEO of Mission Regional Medical Center. "Thankfully our legislators were able to advocate for some financial relief."

This award provides $1,596,900.56 in federal funding to the Mission Regional Medical Center for the emergency protective measures as a result of FEMA-DR-4485-TX (COVID-19 Pandemic). This funding is being provided under authority of Section 403 of the Robert T. Stafford Act.
