Early morning shooting in Gresham investigated as homicide; updated

Update: The victim has been identified as 43-year-old Lucian Thibodeaux of Portland. This is still an active investigation and no other details are available for release at this time.

On Friday, July 1, Gresham Police officers responded to reports of shooting just after 5:00 am and quickly located the victim on the westbound MAX platform at East Burnside Street and 162nd Avenue. He was rushed to an area hospital and later died. No identifying information is being released at this time, pending an autopsy and family notification.

The suspected shooter fled prior to police arrival and is only described at this time as a man in his late teens to early twenties. The case is being investigated by the East County Major Crimes Team as a homicide.

Detectives are working to determine what led to the shooting and if there was any identifiable connection between the two parties.
