CANTON, Mo. - Tonight was the first of four road games due up to round out the Mustangs regular season. In four sets, the Mustangs were victorious over the Wildcats of Culver-Stockton College 3-1 (26-24, 25-18, 17-25, 25-18). With this win, the Mustangs move to 18-10 on the season and 8-7 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference.
To begin the match, the Mustangs tallied 17 kills in set one compared to the Wildcats' 12. The Mustangs held on to take set one 26-24. In set two, the Mustangs rolled to a 25-18 win on 12 kills while hitting .345. The Wildcats were not ready to call it in three, as they held the Mustangs to a .000 hitting percentage to take the third set, 25-17. The Mustangs finished off the Wildcats in set four, 25-18, after putting away 13 kills on a .303 hitting percentage. In the match, the Mustangs totaled 52 kills, 51 assists, 75 digs, 11 service aces, and nine blocks. Individually, the Mustangs were led by Maddie Bell (JR/Ely, Iowa) with 18 kills hitting .395. Laila Sain (FR/Cedar Rapids, Iowa) also collected double-digits with 10. Madelyn Orton (SR/West Point, Iowa) and Abbi Tunis (JR/Davenport, Iowa) followed with nine and eight kills respectively. Kayla Daggett (JR/Madison, Wis.) handed out 44 assists while also firing five service aces, which ties her career-high. Defensively, Gabi Delsing (JR/Coralville, Iowa) had 30 digs. At the net, Olivia Makinen (SO/Beloit, Wis.) walled up two solo blocks and one block assist while Bell added one solo block and four block assists on the night.
