Media Statement: Cogta Committee Saddened by Passing of One of its Members, Ms Moloko Maggie Tlou

Parliament, Friday, 4 February 2022 - The Portfolio Committee on Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA) is saddened by the passing of one of its Members, Ms Moloko Maggie Tlou. Ms Tlou passed away yesterday.

Ms Tlou was sworn in as a Member of the National Assembly after the 2019 general elections and was deployed to the Portfolio Committee on COGTA, where she leaves an enduring and shining legacy.

Her colleagues in the committee describe Ms Tlou as a humble, selfless, disciplined community development worker and servant of the people, especially for those who had been historically disadvantaged. She used the committee as a means to demand that service delivery is delivered to the people.

The committee sends its heartfelt condolences to her family and friends, and wishes them strength during this painful time. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the Tlou family at this time. May they find comfort in the memories they had shared with her. She leaves an indelible legacy we are all proud of," said the committee Chairperson, Mr Fikile Xasa.
