Gazprom says Amur plant fire did not halt operations

A blast at Russian state-controlled Gazprom's Amur gas processing plant (GPP) has not affected supplies along the 38bn m³/yr Power of Siberia 1 (PoS 1) pipeline to China, the firm said today.

The Amur GPP treats gas before export to China.

"Gas supplies to China along [Pos 1] are going on, the volumes are in line with the daily requests of the Chinese side," it said. "The main technological equipment of the Amur gas processing plant was not damaged. The integrity of the production chain was not affected."

Gazprom did not provide any additional comments on the incident when contacted by Argus.

Gazprom commissioned the first 7bn m³/yr unit at Amur in June and another last month. The latest capacity addition was seen as an opportunity to enable a boost in shipments to more than 8.5bn m³ this year, up from 4.1bn m³ delivered in 2020. Gazprom has said Amur will reach operational capacity of 42bn m³/yr by 2025.
