Pallone: Edison Will Receive $2.4 Million to Repair Sewer Lines Damaged by Hurricane Ida

Long Branch, NJ - Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) today announced that Edison will receive $2,417,519 for permanent repairs to the Township's sewer system that was damaged by Hurricane Ida. Flood water from the remnants of the storm overwhelmed the sewer system, causing two sinkholes in the sewer lines. The funding comes from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

"I'm proud to announce that Edison will receive $2.4 million to repair the damage its wastewater infrastructure suffered during Hurricane Ida. Flooding events and strong storms are a threat to our communities, and it's important to ensure our infrastructure can withstand these major weather events," Pallone said. "I'll continue to fight to deliver the federal funding New Jersey needs to bolster our infrastructure's resiliency."

"I'm thankful to the federal agencies and my staff for working together and efficiently recouping the funds from this sewer mane break," Mayor Sam Joshi said. "The $2.6 million have been applied towards our infrastructure needs and will help our municipality now and the future."
