Joint Russian-Chinese-Iranian naval exercise CHIRU-2Q22 in Gulf of Oman

From January 18 to 22 of this year, the Russian-Chinese-Iranian naval exercise CHIRU-2Q22 is being held in the Gulf of Oman (the northern part of the Arabian Sea) and the airspace above it. From the Russian side, a detachment of ships of the Pacific Fleet (Pacific Fleet) takes part in it.

The servicemen of the three countries will carry out artillery firing at a sea target, practice joint maneuvering, organize search operations and release a ship seized by pirates.

In the future, a detachment of Pacific Fleet ships will continue to move to the Mediterranean Sea, where, together with the forces of the Northern and Baltic Fleets, they will take part in the exercises of the inter-fleet grouping of the Navy.

On January 15 this year, a detachment of ships of the Baltic and Northern Fleets, consisting of six large landing ships, left the port of Baltiysk and proceeded to move to the exercise area in the Mediterranean Sea. Currently, detachments of ships are on the way to the North Sea.
