City of Boise and JUMP Co-host Repair Café Boise

April 17, 2024

The City of Boise and Jack's Urban Meeting Place (JUMP) will co-host Repair Café Boise on Thursday, April 18 from 4pm to 7pm. Participants are invited to bring one item in need of repair to this free public event, where a team of volunteers will help fix household goods in a relaxed social setting.

Repair Café Boise joins a growing network of over 3,000 community Repair Cafés around the world. "Repair Cafés help people reduce waste, save money and connect with their community," explains Catherine Milner, Environmental Analyst for the City of Boise's Curb It solid waste program. "They encourage reusing what we have instead of throwing valuable, fixable items into the landfill, and bring people together around the challenge of fixing, which can be a lot of fun!"

Repair Café Boise will have repair stations for clothing and textiles, leather, jewelry, books, personal electronics, small electrical appliances, glue and adhesive, toys and other non-electrical household goods weighing under 50 pounds. This is the third Repair Café Boise held by the City of Boise and JUMP. Over 220 people attended Repair Café Boise events last summer, where volunteer fixers were able to repair over 80% of items. Over 500 pounds of waste were diverted from the landfill thanks to these fixes.
