OTD Earns First National Program Ranking

Monmouth University's Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTD) program has earned a national ranking on U.S. News and World Report's roster of "Best Occupational Therapy Programs," before its first cohort of students has graduated. The annual list of graduate programs grades institutions based on peer assessments of academic quality while also considering factors such as location, environment, strength of field, cost after tuition, financial aid, and job placement.

"This prestigious ranking is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and excellence of our faculty and students," said John R. Patro, OTD, OTR/L, program chair and associate professor. "It affirms our commitment to providing a top-tier educational experience and sets a solid foundation for the future achievements of our graduates."

This year, U.S. News produced eight new graduate-level degree rankings in health fields, including occupational therapy, which were calculated and published in 2024 based on surveys conducted in fall 2023 and early 2024. For each, respondents rated peer programs on a 1-5 scale of academic quality, and rankings were determined by the average of ratings each program received.

Among those surveyed were 263 doctoral and master's degree programs in occupational therapy accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE), which supplied U.S. News with lists of accredited occupational therapy programs and all the names of respondents who were surveyed (48%).

Monmouth's OTD program was ranked at No. 126 with a peer assessment score of 2.6. See the full list.
