KUALA LUMPUR, 15 September 2021 - FGV Holdings Berhad (FGV) received approval for 14,635 vaccine supplies to execute vaccination programmes for its local and migrant plantation workers in Pahang, Perak, Negeri Sembilan and Johor, under the Vaccination for the Agri Commodity Sector (VACOMS) initiative.

Out of the total amount, 7,654 vaccines are allocated for FGV plantation workers in Pahang, 1,210 in Perak, 1,535 in Negeri Sembilan and 4,236 in Johor.

Mohd Nazrul Izam Mansor, FGV's Group Chief Executive Officer said, the implementation of the VACOMS programme is FGV's initiative in support of the government's efforts to extend vaccinations to frontliners of the economic sector, particularly the country's plantation industry.

'It is our responsibility to provide vaccines, to ensure that every worker in FGV's plantations has access to health rights. We hope that this step will help reduce the risk of COVID-19 infections, thereby maintaining the competitiveness of the plantation industry in the face of pandemic challenges and labour constraints,' said Mohd Nazrul.

Plantation workers in Pahang are receiving vaccinations from 8 September to 18 September 2021 at eight Vaccination Centres (PPV) in FGV plantations located in Kuantan, Jerantut, Temerloh and Muadzam. This is following the completion of the same vaccination programme in Perak which took place on 6 and 7 September 2021 at the PPVs of FGV's plantations in Besout, Sungkai and Tawai, Grik.

The VACOMS programme for FGV's plantation workers will be extended to Negeri Sembilan and Johor in the near future, in order to achieve the target for herd immunity by November 2021. This is subject to the approval of the COVID-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) and ProtectHealth Corporation Sdn Bhd (ProtectHealth) for PPV operations, as well as the receiving of vaccine supplies at locations where it will be carried out.

To ensure the vaccination process runs smoothly, FGV is in cooperation with the Ministry of Plantation Industries and Commodities, Ministry of Health Malaysia, CITF and ProtectHealth. Meanwhile, KL Medical Clinic (KLMC) is appointed as the agent to carry out vaccination injection services.

In addition to the VACOMS programme, FGV has also implemented the COVID-19 Antigen kit screening test programme to 26,210 migrant plantation workers in January 2021, in collaboration with KLMC, the Social Security Organisation (SOCSO), and local authorities.
