South Dallas Cultural Center to co-host “Race to Kindness” book campaign

Dallas - The South Dallas Cultural Center (SDCC) is partnering with Big Thought and Book Drive for Kids to host Race to Kindness, a free book distribution fair.

The drive is a part of the National "Race to 500,000 Books" campaign, created to help erase the book gap globally by distributing books to children, providing family and community workshops, offering consulting services that instill the importance of reading and modeling strategies to support a developing reading culture.

"One of the most important aspects of my 'Race to 500,000 Books' was hosting free book fairs," said Orion Monaco Jean, the 2020 National Kindness winner. "I wanted children (and adults) to select the book(s) that interest them without having to worry about how much it might cost them."

New and gently loved books for people of all ages will be available to pick up for free at the South Dallas Cultural Center, located at 3400 S. Fitzhugh Ave Dallas, TX 75210 on Saturday, Oct. 23 from Noon to 4 p.m.
