Chairman Meeks Releases September HFAC Schedule

Washington, D.C. - Today, Representative Gregory W. Meeks, Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, released the schedule for the month of September.

Events that are not closed to the public will be accessible via the Committee's website and YouTube page. All Committee events are subject to change at any time due to unforeseen circumstances.

  • September 13 at 2:00 p.m., ET: The Committee will convene its members for a hybrid hearing entitled, 'Afghanistan 2001- 2021: Evaluating the Withdrawal and U.S. Policies - Part 1.
  • September 14 at 11:00 a.m., ET: The Subcommittee on Asia, the Pacific, Central Asia and Nonproliferation will convene its members for a briefing entitled 'Changing Dynamics in the South China Sea.' Closed to the public.
  • September 20 at 5:00 p.m., ET: The Subcommittee on Asia, the Pacific, Central Asia and Nonproliferation will convene its members for a briefing on biological security threats. Closed to the public.
  • September 22 at 9:00 a.m., ET: The Subcommittee on Asia, the Pacific, Central Asia and Nonproliferation will convene its members for a briefing on Administration engagement in East Asia. Closed to the public.
  • September 22 at 4:00 p.m., ET: The Subcommittee on International Development, International Organizations and Global Corporate Social Impact will convene its members for a briefing entitled, 'Policy Towards the Olympic Games.' Closed to the public.
  • September 23 at 10:00 a.m., ET: The Subcommittee on International Development, International Organizations and Global Corporate Social Impact will convene its members for a hybrid hearing entitled, 'Shifting the Power: Advancing Locally-led Development and Partner Diversification in U.S. Development Programs.'
  • September 23 at 1:00 p.m., ET: The Subcommittee on Asia, the Pacific, Central Asia and Nonproliferation will convene its members for a briefing entitled, 'Scenarios in a Cross-Strait Conflict.' Closed to the public.
  • September 23 at 2:00 p.m., ET: The Subcommittee on Europe, Energy, the Environment and Cyber and the Subcommittee on the Middle East, North Africa, and Global Counterterrorism will convene their members for a joint virtual hearing entitled: 'Transatlantic Cooperation on Countering Global Violent Extremism.'
  • September 28 at 10:00 a.m., ET: The Subcommittee on Asia, the Pacific, Central Asia and Nonproliferation will convene its members for a virtual hearing entitled, 'Strengthening the U.S. Ties with Southeast Asia.'
  • September 28 at 2:00 p.m., ET: The Subcommittee on Africa, Global Health and Global Human Rights Nonproliferation and Subcommittee on the Middle East, North Africa, and Global Counterterrorism will convene their members for a hybrid hearing entitled: 'Understanding the Conflict in Africa.'
  • September 30 at 1:00 p.m., ET: The Committee will convene HFAC members for a hybrid markup of various measures.
