Last weekend's Operation Safer Streets neighborhood safety initiative, which took place on Friday and Saturday, resulted in 29 arrests, 26 misdemeanors, one felony, and four warrants served.
At least twice a week, officers and supervisors representing each of the eight precincts and the Specialized Investigations Division (SID) partner together to implement strategies to combat gang crime and quality of life issues in various areas of Nashville.
Friday's enforcement consisted of eight detectives, four supervisors, and 15 officers. Areas of focus included Apache Trail, Trinity Lane, Brick Church Pike, and Dickerson Pike.
Saturday's enforcement consisted of four detectives, four supervisors, and 15 officers. Areas of focus included Lewis Street, Perkins Street, Bell Road, Lafayette Street, and McCann Street.
So far this year, Operation Safer Streets has resulted in 468 arrests on 38 felony charges and 426 misdemeanor charges, 15 gun seizures, the service of 189 outstanding warrants, 47 field interviews of persons believed to have gang knowledge, and 2,584 vehicle stops in areas with a gang presence.
