Geisinger Autism & Developmental Medicine Institute to host sensory-friendly movie April 28

DANVILLE, Pa. -
Children with special developmental needs and their families are invited to a sensory-friendly showing of the 2016 film Trolls on Sunday, April 28, at 1 p.m. at the Campus Theatre, 413 Market St., Lewisburg. The movie is part of Geisinger's Autism & Developmental Medicine Institute's (ADMI) sensory-friendly film series.

The loud music, vivid special effects, explosions and fast scene changes in many films can be difficult for children with special needs, who can experience these effects as sensory overload. The movies shown as part of the Sensory-Friendly Film Series will be shown in 2-D and will begin on time with no previews or trailers. These showings will lower the volume of music and special effects and provide low-level lighting instead of total darkness. The showing will also provide a comfortable and accepting environment for those who want to get up, move around or make noise.

Doors will open at 12:30 p.m. and the movie will begin promptly at 1 p.m. Admission is free, and donations will be accepted to fund future screenings. Families may bring or purchase snacks.

For more information about this and future movie showings in the Sensory-Friendly Film Series, call 570-522-9430.
